Ontario Beer and Wine Tax Information

The 2020 Ontario budget retroactively rescinded the effective date for planned increases to the wine and beer basic taxes. The wine basic tax rate increase scheduled for June 1, 2020 was cancelled until further notice. The beer basic tax scheduled to increase on December 1, 2020 will be deferred until March 1, 2022. The legislation affecting these sales tax measures received Royal Assent on December 8, 2020.
