MINNEAPOLIS (July 13, 2020) – Ryan, a leading global tax services and software provider, announced that Brian Stromen has joined the Firm’s executive management team as Principal and Practice Leader of the National Tax practice, based in the Minneapolis, Minnesota office.
Mr. Stromen brings more than 30 years of experience in state and local tax services of a multidisciplinary and industry nature, including compliance, advocacy, and planning. As the partner-in-charge of the state and local tax practice at a national accounting firm, he was charged with strategy and development of the practice which more than doubled in size under his leadership. Mr. Stromen was also responsible for leading teams that developed innovative service offerings in all aspects of state and local tax by responding to everchanging markets and client needs. In a previous role as partner-in-charge of indirect tax services, he more than tripled the size of the practice by expanding the type of services provided, embracing technology and growing teams and careers. In that role, Mr. Stromen also participated in the national accounting firm’s Global Indirect Tax Board, ensuring that indirect tax services were being provided to clients across the globe. Further, he led a major indirect tax service acquisition and integration that increased revenue of that service offering by tenfold.
At Ryan, Mr. Stromen will be responsible for leading, developing, and growing national tax services by leveraging his extensive leadership, innovation, and people development skills and ensuring Ryan clients and professionals stay informed of tax changes and trends. In addition, Mr. Stromen will identify strategies that provide new client value opportunities, oversee strategic growth opportunities, and manage day-to-day practice operations.

Mr. Stromen is a frequent national speaker on state and local tax issues and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Institute for Professionals in Taxation, and Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is a licensed certified public accountant and attorney in Minnesota and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accountancy from Saint John’s University and a Juris Doctorate degree from the William Mitchell College of Law.
