Ryan's Jason DeCuir has been appointed as Chairman of a private-sector task force to advise the Louisiana Legislature on reopening the state’s economyBATON ROUGE (April 22, 2020) Ryan, a leading global tax services and software provider, announced that Jason DeCuir has been appointed by Senate President Page Cortez and House Speaker Clay Schexnayder as Chairman of a private-sector task force to advise the Louisiana Legislature on reopening the state’s economy in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Louisiana Legislative Advisory Task Force on Economic Recovery will develop policy, legislative, and regulatory recommendations, as well as investment guidelines to support the long-term recovery of households, workers, and businesses from the COVID-19 crisis.

Mr. DeCuir is based in Ryan’s Baton Rouge, Louisiana office and specializes in developing public affairs strategies to resolve state tax policy issues and provide state tax legislative, regulatory, and advocacy services and analysis to clients in a variety of industries throughout the country. Prior to joining Ryan, Mr. DeCuir served as Chief of Staff, Assistant Secretary and Executive Counsel for the Louisiana Department of Revenue (LDR). In 2013, Mr. DeCuir was tasked by the Governor to help spearhead his tax reform efforts. In this role, he was instrumental in reforming the structure for tax appeals in the state of Louisiana, increasing the state’s COST scorecard from a “D-” to a “B.” Some of Mr. DeCuir’s experience and most recent appointments in Louisiana include the Louisiana Task Force on Structural Change in Budget and Tax Policy, the Louisiana Sales Tax Streamlining and Modernization Commission, the Louisiana Constitutional Convention Advisory Council, and the Louisiana Tax Institute. Mr. DeCuir holds a Master of Laws degree in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center and a Juris Doctor degree and Bachelor of Civil Law degree from the Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center.
