Cook County, Illinois 2020 Second Installment Tax Bill Update

The Cook County Treasurer’s Office has announced that second installment 2020 tax bills will be mailed mid-August and will be due October 1, two months later than the usual August 1 payment deadline. The tax bill delay was a result of a conflict between the Assessor’s Office and the Clerk’s Office regarding the calculation of the taxes, specifically the tax freeze for low-income senior citizens. A payment deadline as late as of October 1 has not occurred since 2013 in Cook County. The experts at Ryan will continue to monitor and provide updates.
